A recent four-day humanitarian mission in Phnom Penh, Cambodia was a resounding success, demonstrating the rewarding nature of such initiatives. Organised by the Sino Phil Asia International Peace Awards Foundation, the mission was largely supported by Cambodian officials. The foundation led a team of experts from Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau. Together, they provided free medical treatments and surgical expertise in the capital, particularly in the neighbouring Kandal province, which surrounds the capital.

More than 1,500 underprivileged individuals, including many elderly, children and women were given primary healthcare services. The visiting delegation was impressed and applauded the work of theUnion Youth Federation of Cambodia, which facilitated the participation of 50 doctors, nurses and medical students in the effort. Various medical stations were established, including ultrasound units, dental surgeries, ophthalmologist screenings and consultation booths for endocrine specialists, alongside orthopaedic services.



The mission held its events within a pagoda in Kandal province, where the local governor praised the extraordinary effort put forth by the joint teams. The deputy governor also delivered speeches expressing gratitude to all those involved. A special thank you was extended to His Excellency Sokkung Heng Secretary of State, for coordinating all parties involved. His Excellency also serves as the President of the Doctors’ Alliance of the Union Youth Federation of Cambodia.

The Sino Phil Asia Peace Awards Foundation played a crucial role in organising key speakers for a special symposium presided over by Deputy Prime Minister His Excellency Hun Many. He delivered an inspiring speech, thanking the community, especially the students from Beltei University with over 2,000 in attendance. The symposium facilitated valuable medical knowledge exchange among medical professionals, particularly in the fields of robotics, laparoscopic surgery, tropical diseases and artificial intelligence in medicine.

Also in attendance with the visiting delegation was Professor Manson Fok, President Emeritus of the Sino Phil Asia International Peace Awards Foundation. The visiting delegation included xperts are Beijing Children’s Hospital Medical University, the largest provider of paediatric care in China: endoscopist, Dr Qin Xiu Min, and internal medicine specialist Dr Wang Jia. The two doctors expressed their heartfelt warmth after tending to underprivileged children, saying the experience was rewarding and fosters goodwill and friendship between China and Cambodia. They added that they are very proud to have participated in this event.
Dr Billy Chan, the chairman of the Peace Foundation, also took the opportunity to express gratitude and reflect on Cambodia’s remarkable development over the past decade, highlighting the community’s commitment to supporting the disadvantaged.

The mission emphasised the importance of promoting and advocating for peace-building through action at the National Paediatric Hospital. Professor Huang from Beijing Children’s Hospital showcased laparoscopic skills by performing a successful paediatric hernia procedure with surgeons exchanging valuable knowledge and expertise.

On the final day, the team visited the Khmer Soviet Hospital, where they provided two sets of specialised ultrasound equipment for women’s and children’s care. Looking ahead, the Union Youth Federation of Cambodia is committed to future missions planned for 2026. This four-day humanitarian mission was a testament to the rewarding impact of charitable activities that the Peace Foundation has been actively pursuing.
